Tlotlo Malakaila is a traditional and digital artist whose work draws deeply from African folklore, aesthetics, and cultural storytelling. Based in Botswana, he blends the visual language of his heritage with influences from Asian and Western comics, animation, and narrative art, creating a unique hybrid style rooted in both tradition and contemporary imagination.
His practice spans illustration, comic art, and world-building, with a focus on modernising African art through character-driven narratives and visually rich storytelling. Tlotlo is currently developing an expanding creative universe across multiple mediums, including his debut comic book Daydreamer, future animation projects, and a long-term vision of building a full art and storytelling studio. His mission is to bring African stories to global screens through television and feature film adaptations and his work adds powerful cultural depth to the 13AM collective.
