£18.00

#ARTIST338 | NIGERIAN

Dr. Olumide Egunlae is a Nigerian painter and art educator whose work is rooted in African tradition, culture, and everyday life. Born in Ado-Ekiti, he developed his passion for art at a young age, influenced by the Ona Art Movement and later shaped by mentors and peers throughout his academic journey. Now based in Banjul, The Gambia, his practice reflects a deep connection to heritage, community, and storytelling.

Working with stylised figures and abstracted geometric forms, Olumide creates vibrant compositions that explore the rhythms, rituals, and lived experiences of African communities. His paintings are driven by observation and memory, blending colour, texture, and movement to capture both the physical and emotional essence of his subjects. After over 20 years as a Visual Art Teacher, he returned to painting full-time, continuing to develop a body of work that celebrates identity and cultural continuity.

At the core of it all is people, their stories, their quirks, their individuality. That inclusive spirit defines Craig’s work and has made him a trusted creative partner to clients around the world.
