James Gilleard is an English illustrator and animator based in Matsumoto, Japan, known for his distinctive geometric digital art style that combines nostalgia with a powerful message. With a plethora of experience in the industry, he has worked on diverse projects ranging from books, advertising campaigns, and magazine covers to concept art for TV and film, collaborating with major companies such as Netflix, Disney, Dreamworks, Studio Trigger, and Blue Sky Studios.

Drawing inspiration from futuristic and retro concepts as well as his urban surroundings, Gilleard's work reflects influences from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, including pulp comics, fashion, architecture, photography, and music. His artwork, characterized by beautifully textured digital illustrations and animations, transports viewers to a nostalgic golden era, showcasing his keen eye for the human form and making him a sought-after artist for animation, advertising, editorial, and publishing projects.

After studying illustration and animation at Kingston University, Gilleard gained diverse experience in agencies before transitioning to full-time freelancing.
