Seoul-based multi-talented creative Myungsik Jang develops animated characters that exist somewhere between the sweet, strange and surreal, his work is also notable for its masterfully rendered textures and shapes.

These creations (oftentimes appearing as a kind of anthropomorphic jelly) are animated digitally, though their personalities and textures are somehow tangible—all slimy, shiny, gelatinous dancing characters. The 3-D animated project, Surreal Jelly is a rabbit hole that burrows deep into Jang’s vivid imagination. There’s no shortage of joy in his work, those who’ve met Jang’s colorful characters can’t seem to get enough.

Pioneering his unique style that carries across all of Myungsik’s work, from the personal to the commissioned, most recently in 11 visualisations for Orlando Weeks’ new album Quickening. The multi-disciplinary creative has also worked at the renown agency Pentagram, whilst he was also previously employed at Vogue Korea, as he continues to build a stellar resume and portfolio.
