Born in Velingara, Senegal, Khéraba Traoré studied at the National School of Arts in Dakar, where he now teaches animation. His work centres on children’s rights, exploring the complexity of their daily lives and expressing their emotions with sensitivity and care. For Khéraba, children are both a source of inspiration and a powerful lens through which to view society.
His practice blends painting, collage, and engraving, combining bold colour with newspaper fragments and expressive linework. Silhouettes of children emerge through spontaneous, uninhibited gestures, sometimes shifting into darker tones inspired by cave art. Red streaks cut through black and white compositions, symbolically condemning violence and injustice, while poetry and playfulness remain at the heart of his visual language.
