Sergi Ribot, who signs his work as Space Rocket, is a Mallorcan collage artist whose surreal, nostalgic scenes feel like memories of a world that never quite was. Born in Mallorca, he grew up on a farm surrounded by animals, riding the tractor with his grandfather and losing himself in the cornfields, dolls and toys always in tow, spending hours imagining, drawing and building a world of his own. That instinct never left him: today he is a graphic designer running his own studio, Indigo Estudio, and still invents worlds, now as surreal collage where the impossible turns strangely familiar.
The sea runs through everything he makes, a lifelong refuge and, as he describes it, his peace and his everything, with the scent of summer pine trees beside the water standing in for the feeling of home. Now based in Bali and hopping from island to island, Sergi lets travel widen his view and feed his imagery, while his pieces continue to speak from nostalgia, of childhood moments, deep memories, sensations and instants never lived. He likes to think of each one as a message in a bottle drifting through time, with a little Pink Floyd, Hendrix and the seventies tucked inside
